My son and I went on a Seven Day backpacking trek in the High Sierra, hiking on the Pacific Crest Trail / John Muir Trail, starting in Onion Valley and ending at South Lake, while climbing over five passes: Kearsarge Pass, Glen Pass, Pinchot Pass, Mather Pass, and Bishop Pass.

Thanks for the detailed write up of your Labor Day 2020 Rae Lakes to Bishop Pass hike. I’m hiking the Rae Lakes loop over Labor Day this year (2021). Definitely concerned about smoke from wildfires and water levels, good to know that there was water last year, although perhaps not at normal levels.
